New Year, New YOU: The B.I.G. (Breath, Intention, Gratitude) Way to Live Your Life!

With the holidays behind us and the New Year ahead, now is the perfect time to learn

new techniques to enhance your life and magnify your potential. The following 3 practices are super easy to adapt into your daily life and will help you live a life of purpose and welcome in a peaceful, healthy 2022. I came up with this acronym- B.I.G. as I felt it was a quick, easy reminder of the 3 most beneficial techniques to center ourselves and to help us begin each day with intention and purpose.

1. B- Breathe

Develop an awareness of your breath. Are you holding your breath? Is your breath shallow? Where is the breath traveling within your body? Inflate the belly slowly as if expanding a balloon inside of it. Slow down your exhalation as you deflate this “balloon.” This is the key to becoming more relaxed and calming your nervous system. Click Healthy Breathing to learn more about this healthier way to breathe, or listen to my 5-minute breath guidance on your favorite streaming site, such as iTunes, Spotify, Insight Timer , or YouTube. Starting each day with an awareness and a gentle guidance of your breath in a healthier way is the perfect way to center yourself for the day ahead.

2. I- Intention:

State what you want to achieve or accomplish when you wake up each morning. You may do this silently or say it out loud. Replace any negative, worrisome thoughts with this positive statement. For example, “I am calm, relaxed, and my life is in balance.” Remember, whatever we think becomes our reality so state what you want in a positive way. 3. G- Gratitude

Research shows that expressing gratitude each day has a positive effect on our health and well-being. Take a moment to think about what you are grateful for in your life as each day begins. There are wonderful gratitude apps to keep track of these daily gratitude expressions or you can also keep a gratitude journal that assists you with prompts and inspiration. Experience the healing, de-stressing benefits of gratitude as you practice this technique. Families can also benefit by individually expressing gratitude at shared meals.

Here's to a Happy and Healthy 2022!

I would love to know what my readers are the most interested in seeing each week. Please drop me a line telling me what interests you most. Do you have something really interesting you would like me to share? I would love to hear about it!
